Getting to Know the Sorors…Jamese

Name: Soror Jamese McGee

Line position: Captain         Line Name: Ms.Inquisitive

Induction Date: Dec. 15, 2007

Why SGRho?

They were open and welcoming. They offered lots of opportunities for me to do community service whether I joined or not.

What’s your favorite part of being a member of Sigma Gamma Rho?

Meeting other Greeks, neos, out of town Sorors and being part of another family.

 Blue or Gold?

Gold for NPHCC, Phi Beta Sigma or Zeta events ;-)

Outside of Sigma, what do you do (Day job, hobbies, pastimes, etc)?

I teach for a living - fourth grade. I love to read, talk and I’m learning to change my lifestyle to be healthier.

The first thing that people notice about me is…

My weight loss if they knew me and my smile if they didn’t.

 Definition of sisterhood:

Being there for your sister and encouraging her successes for the good of herself and the organization.

 Random Fact:

I am one of many Sorors who did not follow in our mother’s footsteps.

 Sigma Story:

I love going to different states and meeting sorors and hearing their stories from their undergrad or alumnae memories and their common bond of a continued love for Sigma.

 Funny Story:

Going to a high school basketball game with a Soror and meeting a national officer at three days old in Sigma. I said “Hey, you were on my test!”

 Advice to (Undergrads/Graduate Students/Recent Grads/other Sorors/Potentials/whoever):

Learn all you can. Never be afraid to meet a new Soror. And be open and loving to every Soror you meet. They might be your next great friend.
